BEREA, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Baker Mayfield ditched the wrap on his right hand Friday.

The Browns’ quarterback continued to throw with ease Friday morning as the Browns (5-7) prepare to face their in-state rival, the Cincinnati Bengals (1-11).

Mayfield was limited and did not throw Wednesday, but he resumed throwing Thursday with a wrap on his right hand that left his fingers exposed.

“He probably did not need the wrap on the first part of the week,” head coach Freddie Kitchens said. “It was just preventive more than anything.”

Mayfield said earlier this week he would not miss a game “[Because] Mama didn’t raise a wuss.”

Mayfield injured his right hand following through on a deep ball to receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in the closing seconds of the first half of Sunday’s 20-13 loss in Pittsburgh. His hand hit the helmet and face mask of Steelers linebacker Bud Dupree.

Mayfield finished the game wearing a glove but he isn’t expected to wear one against Cincinnati.

“I do not think so,” Kitchens said. “I think that glove is more to keep the wrap on than anything.”
