Akron, OH - (92.3 The Fan) - The PGA Tour announced this morning that the Bridgestone Invitational will leave the Firestone Country Club in Akron after this year's event.  The event will be moving to Memphis, Tennessee.

Bridgestone has been the main sponsor of the event since 2006 and Tiger Woods has won at Firestone eight times during his career.

The PGA Tour also announced the event will be replaced by the Senior Players Championship, which is one of the five majors on the PGA Tour Champions.  That event will begin in Akron in July of 2019.

The final Bridgestone Invitational featuring PGA players begins on August 2nd.
