CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – After a brief 11-month hiatus, it’s time once again to fire up our Cleveland Browns head coaching tracker.

Keep checking back for the latest news and notes on the Browns’ quest to finally get it right with their 10th full time head coach in the expansion era.

Jan. 11: Browns begin general manager search, request to interview Colts assiatnt GM Ed Dodds.

49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh and Vikings offensiver coordinator Kevin Stefanski the top two names with the most buzz according to CBS NFL insider Jason LaCanfora. 

Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll had a "strong" interview and could be a "sleeper" to land the head coaching job according to ESPN's Chris Mortenson. 

Jan. 10: Browns interview Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels for nearly seven hours.

The Browns are willing to take their time and wait it out, even through the remainder of the playoffs if ncessary before naming their next head coach according to Mary Kay Cabot/Cleveland.com.

Jan. 9: Browns interview Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski. Stefanski was a finalist in 2019 for the job.

Former Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens will speak with Giants head coach Joe Judge about joining his new staff in New York according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan.

Jan. 8: Browns interview Eagles defesnive coordinator Jim Schwartz.

Jan. 7: Panthers hire Baylor head coach Matt Rhule and the Giants tab Patriots special teams coordinator and receivers coach Joe Judge leaving Browns as last remaning NFL club without a head coach.

Jan. 6: Browns interview Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.

Dallas Cowboys hire former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy to replace Jason Garrett as head coach. McCarthy was the first to interview for the Browns job on Jan. 2.

The Browns will interview Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels on Friday according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. 

The Browns have requested an interview with Eagles defensive coordinator and former Lions head coach Jim Schwartz, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Jan. 5: Interview with Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll bumped back until Monday. Team does not conduct any head coaching interviews on Sunday.

Jan. 4: Browns free to pursue Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels following New England's loss to the Titans. 

The Browns interviewed 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh in San Fransicco. 

Jan. 3: The Browns are scheduled to interview Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy Friday afternoon. 

Jan. 2: The Browns interview former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy Thursday in Cleveland. 

The Browns have "strong interest" in former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer according to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic and 92.3 The Fan's Dustin Fox. Browns owner Jimmy Haslam denied the team's interest.

Browns owner Jimmy Haslam confirms search committee consists of himself, executive vice president JW Johnson, chief strategy officer Paul DePodesta and vice president of football administration Chris Cooper.

The Browns interview Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman in Baltimore Thursday night. 

Jan. 1: Browns coaching search is at seven legitimite candidates: Mike McCarthy, who will interview Thursday, plus requests to interview Patriots OC Josh McDaniels, Ravens OC Greg Roman, 49ers DC Robert Saleh, Bills OC Brian Daboll, Vikings OC Kevin Stefanski and Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy

Dec 31: Baylor head coach Matt Rhule declined the Browns request to interview him for the head coaching job according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Browns have requested an interview with Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. 

49ers run game coordinator Mike McDaniel and pass game coordinator Mike LaFleur are also likely to interview with the Browns according to Schefter but nothing has been scheduled.

Browns "mutually" part ways with general manager John Dorsey freeing chief strategy officer Paul DePodesta to lead the coaching search.

Dec. 30: The Browns have requested permission to interview Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman, 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh and Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.

Under league rules, the Browns may interview Saleh and Roman this week because Baltimore and San Francisco are on a playoff bye, but McDaniels’ interview will have to wait until after New England’s Wild Card game and the same goes for Daboll after the Bills play the Texans Saturday.

The Browns are expected to request an interview with Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski, who interviewed for the job last year.

The Browns will interview former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy according to Mark Kay Cabot/Cleveland.com.

General manager John Dorsey’s fate could be decided by the next head coach.

Washington is expected to name former Panthers head coach Ron Rivera as their new head coach according to ESPN and NFL Network taking him out of the running for consideration by the Browns.

Dec. 29: Freddie Kitchens fired by the Browns.

Owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam promise a “comprehensive” search to find a replacement for Kitchens.

Browns chief strategy officer Paul DePodesta expected to play key role in search.
