Cleveland, OH (92.3 The Fan) – The Browns signed former Baltimore Ravens first-round pick Breshad Perriman Saturday to bolster their receiving corps which had become thin due to injury.

On Friday, receiver Derrick Willies, who caught a 39-yard pass in overtime that helped set up the game-winning field goal against the Ravens, broke his collarbone in practice. He was placed on injured reserve Saturday meaning he’ll miss a minimum of eight games to make room for Perriman.

The Browns are permitted to bring two players back off IR after they miss the required eight games and they don’t need to make the designation until the player returns to practice after six weeks. Cornerback Terrance Mitchell, who broke his wrist, is expected to be one of those players that will return.

Receiver Rashard Higgins is out for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers after suffering a sprained MCL last week against the Ravens. Higgins, who could miss up to four weeks, said this week that he expects to return within the next two weeks.

Perriman, picked 26th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft, has totaled 43 career receptions on 101 targets for 576 yards with three touchdowns in 27 games. His inability to consistantly catch the football led to his release by Baltimore this year.

The Browns also waived fullback Danny Vitale from injured reserve.

Vitale, who suffered a calf injury during training camp, was an undrafted free agent in 2016 and started 9 of 24 games played for the Browns. He caught seven passes for 46 yards.

Defensive back Jeremiah McKinnon waived from the 53 earlier this week and re-signed to the practice squad was waived again by the club to make room for linebacker Xavier Woodson-Luster, who appeared in 14 games last season for Oakland as an undrafted free agent. He registered seven tackles defensively and four more on special teams for the Raiders.
