CLEVELAND, OH – Yasiel Puig hit a walk-off single in the 10th inning to give the Indians a 2-1 win over the Tigers on Wednesday night.

The Tribe loaded the bases in the 10th inning and Puig came through with two outs. He finished 4-for-5 on the night. It was his fifth career walk-off hit.

"I tried to not think too much," Puig said. "I tried to look for the best pitch to hit and make good contact and not try to do to much. Finally, I got the pitch and put the ball in play and we won."

It was Puig's first walk-off hit for the Indians. He's 7-for-10 in his last two games.

Aaron Civale allowed one run and four hits in a career-high 7⅔ innings. The rookie right-hander finished with four strikeouts and one walk. His ERA fell to 1.82.

Civale hasn’t allowed more than two runs his first nine career starts, which is the longest streak by an Indians player since earned runs became official.

“I thought he was terrific," manager Terry Francona said. "We’re trying to keep him around 90-ish (pitches). It seemed like he ran some deep counts but he doesn’t have to throw a fastball in a fastball count. For a kid with this much experience, that’s pretty impressive.”

The Tigers almost took the lead in the fourth inning, but Greg Allen threw out Christin Stewart from left field. Roberto Perez collided with Stewart, but held on to get the out and end the inning.

The Indians improve to 89-63 on the season. They're 17-1 against the Tigers this year and have won their last 16 head-to-head matchups.

Up Next – The Indians finish their series with Detroit on Thursday. Mike Clevinger is on the mound for the Tribe. He’s 11-3 this season with a 2.68 ERA. Daniel Norris will start for Detroit. He’s 3-12 on the year with a 4.62 ERA.
