Salazar out for 2018 after shoulder surgery

Former all-star will not throw for 12-16 weeks

CLEVELAND, OH (92.3 The Fan) - Cleveland Indians pitcher Danny Salazar will not pitch in 2018 after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder on Monday.

Dr. Keith Meister performed an arthroscopic debridement and bursectomy, and Salazar will not throw for 12-to-16 weeks.

Salazar last pitched for the Indians on October 9th, walked two and allowing an unearned run over 1 2/3 innings against the New York Yankees in Game 4 of the American League Divisional Series. The 28-year-old had a career-high 4.28 ERA over 23 outings in 2017. He was a 2016 American League All-Star.
