Cleveland, OH (92.3 The Fan) – Carlos Gonzalez joined the Indians on Sunday, Jason Kipnis is expected to be with the team on Monday and Francisco Lindor could soon follow. The three-time All-Star will begin a rehab assignment with the Columbus Clippers on Monday according to Mandy Bell of

Lindor, 25, missed all of spring training with a strained calf. He was close to returning when he suffered a sprained ankle in late March.

Lindor took grounders at Progressive Field last weekend. The Indians will take their time with their star, especially since he missed all of spring training. He's expected to join the Columbus Clippers in Louisville on Monday.

Bell also reports that Brad Miller has been designated for assignment. That clears the way for Kipnis to join the team. The veteran second baseman went 3-for-22 in six minor-league games. Kipnis is expected to start at second base moving forward.

Miller posted a .250 batting average in 36 plate appearances. He signed a non-guaranteed one-year deal at the end of spring training after Kipnis strained his calf. His contract would've been guaranteed if he had spent 45 days with the Indians. Instead, the veteran hopes to land elsewhere after just 18 days with the Tribe.

The Indians were swept by Kansas City over the weekend and start a three-game series with Seattle on Monday.
