CLEVELAND, Ohio – Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer was named American League Player of the Week for the first time in his career. 

The announcement was made just one day after Bauer recorded his first shutout as a pro. He allowed just four hits and finished with eight strikeouts in Sunday's 8-0 win over the Tigers. 

He made two starts last week, allowing one run in 16.2 innings and recording 14 strikeouts.

Prior to Sunday, Bauer was 0-5 in his previous eight starts and hadn't won a game since April 30. His ERA fell to 3.41 on the season.
