Independence, OH (92.3The Fan) – The Cavs are handling Kevin Love carefully.

That’s why he won’t play Wednesday night against the Brooklyn Nets.

Love, who underwent surgery on his left foot in early November that caused him to miss 50 games, returned on Feb. 8 at Washington where he played 6:29 and went 1-5 from the field, including 0-3 from 3, to score 4 points and pull down 1 rebound. After getting the next night off at Indiana, Love went 4 of 10 from the floor, including 2-6 from 3, to score 14 points and pull down 9 rebounds in Monday night’s 107-104 win over the New York Knicks.

The team says that Love has not suffered any setbacks and it is just mart of his maintenance plan as they hope the All-Star break will give him even more time to return to regular play.

Cutting down the Nets – The Cavs host the Nets Wednesday night and as soon as the final horn sounds the All-Star break will be upon them.

Brooklyn has lost 14 of their last 18 meetings against Cleveland dating back to April 16, 2014 and the Cavs are also 9-1 in their last 10 home games against the Nets.

During that span, Cleveland has outscored the Nets by an average of 7.7 points per game (107.6-99.9), while holding them to a combined .445 shooting and under 100 points in 9 of those 18 matchups.

The fourth and final meeting between the teams will take place on March 6 at the Barclays Center.

Long distance – After struggling The Cavs have heated up from beyond the arc recently.

In Monday’s 107-104 win over the Knicks, Cleveland hit 14 more three-pointers marking the third straight game that they hit at least a dozen times from beyond the arc.

Crashing the glass – Cleveland out-rebounded New York 56-46 Monday night, including 17 offensive rebounds that led to 19 second chance points.

The Cavs have now grabbed 50+ rebounds in 13 games and at least 15 offensive boards in 11 games this season which ranks seventh in the NBA.

Injury report – John Henson (left wrist surgery) – OUT, Tristan Thompson (left foot soreness) – OUT, Cedi Osman (right ankle sprain) – QUESTIONABLE, Ante Zizic (low back soreness) – QUESTIONABLE
