Kevin Love and Andre Drummond named finalists for 2020 U.S. Men's Olympic Basketball Team

The 2020 Summer Olympic Games will be held July 24-Aug. 9 in Tokyo

CLEVELAND, OH — Kevin Love and Andre Drummond have both been named finalists for the 2020 U.S. Men's Olympic Basketball Team. 

Both players have had success representing America in the past, playing in a combined 53 games with the national team. 

Love was on the 2012 squad that finished 8-0 en route to a gold medal. He's represented USA Basketball in 28 games. Love was also on the 2010 USA World Championship team. 

Drummond was on the 2014 USA World Cup Team that finished 9-0 and captured gold in Spain. The 44 finalists were announced on Monday morning.  

The Cavaliers are one of 21 NBA teams represented and are one of five teams that have two players among the finalists. 

“Over the course of the remainder of the NBA season we’ll continue to monitor all of the athletes," Jerry Colangelo said. "Selecting the 12-man USA roster will obviously be an extremely challenging and difficult process, and we will again attempt to select the very best team possible to represent our country and who we hope will be successful in our difficult mission of repeating as Olympic champions for a fourth consecutive Olympics.”

Colangelo has served as the managing director of the USA Basketball Men’s National Team since 2005.
