In a period of major uncertainty throughout Major League Baseball, fans were able to take a small, albeit significant sigh of relief with today's news. The MLB Draft will, in fact, take place on the normal start date of June 10.

It's not going to be your typical draft setup, which at this point has sadly become the expectation as we trudge through the worldwide pandemic.

Jeff Passan of ESPN obtained a memo from MLB detailing the layout of the remote 2020 MLB Draft which, like the NFL, will do everything over a video call.

Here are all the other details you need to know about the upcoming draft.

Schedule

June 10, 7:00 pm ET: First round of the draft. 37 picks will be announced.
June 11, 5:00 pm ET: Rounds two through five of the draft. 123 picks will be announced.
June 14, 9:00 am ET: Teams will be able to sign an unlimited number of players for up to $20,000 after the first five rounds of the draft, according to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal. Teams will NOT be allowed to contact any of these players until 9:00 am ET on June 14, according to JJ Cooper of Baseball America. According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the deadline to sign players is August 1.

TV/Streaming Info

Cooper also reported that the first five rounds of the draft are "expected to be on MLB Network", though there has not been any definitive confirmation of this as of yet.

Rules

Rosenthal added that while slot values of each draft pick -- the assigned values that teams are allowed to spend on bonuses, but need to stay under in order to avoid incurring a penalty -- remain the same, those bonuses will be deferred to a later date, and a maximum of just $100,000 will be paid in 2020. As mentioned previously, the deadline to sign any draft picks is August 1.
