The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal is reporting free-agent and former Indians' third basemen Josh Donaldson has agreed to a one-year, $23 million deal with the Atlanta Braves.

The deal will be completed pending a physical.

The Indians traded pitching prospect Julian Merryweather to Toronto for Donaldson at the trade deadline last season. He played 16 regular season games for the club, batting .280 and driving in seven runs.

He was 1-11 with four strikeouts in the postseason. Donaldson played just 36 games for Toronto before the trade and the Indians immediately place him on the disabled list after acquiring him.

Donaldson had been dealing with a lingering calf issue during the 2018 season.
