CLEVELAND, OH – The Indians announced outfielder Yasiel Puig dropped his appeal and will serve his 3-game suspension starting on Monday night.

Puig will miss the Indians’ 3-game series against the Red Sox. Major League Baseball suspended the 28-year-old for his role in a brawl with the Pirates on July 30.

The Indians completed a trade for him the next day. He appealed the ruling initially, but changed his mind on Monday. The Indians didn’t make any roster moves with Puig suspended.

"We have a two-man bench and obviously we can move [Mike> Freeman so that helps and if something happened," manager Terry Francona said.  "We’re hoping for the best.”

Franmil Reyes will hit cleanup for the Tribe on Monday. Tyler Naquin will play in right field and Greg Allen will start in left.

The Indians are 8-3 with Puig in the lineup. He’s posted a .357 batting average with one home run, six RBI and a .984 OPS with Cleveland.
